Welcome Ms. Lydia

We hope you all can join us in welcoming our newest addition to the Musical Bridges Family! Lydia is a Music Therapist joining us from our neighboring state Alabama. Lydia is thrilled to be joining us in Music City and has had a wonderful time meeting all of our clients and families.

While Lydia grew up in Alabama, she has spent the past few years in Mississippi, for school at Mississippi University for Women. Then in Missouri for her internship, after which she received her bachelor’s degree in Music Therapy. The majority of Lydia’s therapeutic experience has been with children. Specifically, those who are a part of the autism community as Lydia completed her Music Therapy internship at an Autism Center. Lydia’s internship supervisor was also a Neurologic Music Therapist much like the other therapists on staff here at Musical Bridges!

Lydia has had an interesting history with Music Therapy. She first experienced Music Therapy as a client! We are proud to say that Lydia is a childhood cancer survivor. She attributes her decision to become a Music Therapist to her journey with cancer-bright spots can come from the darkest days. Lydia brings an interesting dynamic as she has experience as both the client and the therapist.

Lydia is an eclectic individual with a wide array of interests. You can catch her reading in any spare moment she has or listening to songs from an extensive catalog of genres. She has a love for history and vintage things. This manifests in her going on road trips to visit historical sites or sifting through thrift stores on her days off. Music has always been a part of Lydia’s life from an early age. She has been active in choirs and community theater since she can remember. Participating in musical theater productions and show choir throughout her school years.

Lydia has experience beyond her years and a desire to reach others in the same way she was as a child. Lydia hopes to continue her love of Music Therapy and grow with Musical Bridges and the surrounding community. Welcome, Ms. Lydia!
