Easter Social Stories and Songs

Easter is just around the corner, and with it comes all of the fun activities. In this post we will provide three different social stories and some helpful songs to combat the nervousness that comes with different unknown activities! We will cover Easter egg hunts, Easter church service, and taking pictures with the easter bunny himself!

Easter Egg Hunts

Easter egg hunts aren’t your run of the mill past time, for most at least, meaning this could be something you only do once a year! With the long bouts of time between egg hunts it can cause some nervousness regarding the unknown. To help combat this uneasy feeling we’ve created a short social story* to help get your kiddos with this exciting activity!

It’s always fun trying to figure out what might be inside your bounty of eggs! Try out these fun egg shaking songs with your kiddos to try and discover what might lay inside!

And for a more academic approach to your egg hunt you can try out these two piggyback songs created by one of our therapists to work on colors and numbers!

Five Easter Eggs for Me - (Five Green and Speckled Frogs)

Five Easter eggs for me, in my basket please

Filled to the brim with candy (yum yum)

I opened one up, the candy I scooped up

Now there are four Easter eggs

For this version of Five Green and Speckled Frogs you can alter the number of eggs for however many you wish!

Do You See Any? - (If You’re Happy and You Know it)

Do you see any green any green, do you see any green any green

Do you see any green in your easter basket goods

Do you see any green any green

For this version of If You’re Happy and You Know it you can alter the egg color to whatever you want, whatever is in your child’s basket. This can be done for sorting the eggs into different colored piles or pulling one out at a time.

Church Services

Church service on Easter can be overwhelming in all areas. The service is busier than normal, there’s new people, and sometimes the time you typically go to service can even be different! With all of the change on this one day it can pose a challenge. Here’s a social story* you can share to ease some of the stress related to so many changes!

Easter Bunny Pictures

Easter Bunny pictures; how do such cute images cause kiddos so much stress? There are many opportunities to capture a picture of your child with the Easter Bunny during this holiday season. And I’m sure many parents can pull out pictures form holidays past of their child crying in the arms of the fluffy bunny who brings chocolate and eggs.

Seeing a stranger, not to mention one in a giant suit, can cause some anxiety for children. Giving your kid some kind of heads up may lead to less of a meltdown and a much cuter picture! Here is a social story* to help prepare your kiddo for the upcoming photoshoot as well as some songs to help them calm down if they are feeling a little nervous about the good ole Easter Bunny.
