Spring Break Hacks - How to make the most of your break!

Spring break is upon us, and with it comes a disruption in routine. We here at Musical Bridges understand that routines are so important and help make your kiddos feel comfortable and secure. We want to share some ideas to implement over spring break to make the most of it, while having fun too!

Daily Schedule Songwriting:

For those kids who need the most structure to their day we recommend implementing a musical schedule to the mix! We love creating musical mnemonics to help our kiddos learn new information. You may not have a plan for the entire week but having a plan for the current day can make a world of difference. This doesn’t have to be set in stone, you can leave some wiggle room to account for sudden changes. This can be something you take a few minutes the night before to create with your kiddo so that they even know when they are going to wake up! Use this simple template and familiar tune to add some structure to your day!

Here’s some examples of what you could include in your routine song!

  • In the morning I’ll wake up at 10 o’clock, in the morning I’ll wake up at 10 o’clock, in the morning I will wake, morning I will wake up, in the morning I’ll wake up at 10 o’clock!

  • After lunch I’ll be playing games, after lunch I’ll be playing games, after lunch I’ll be, after lunch I’ll be, after lunch I’ll be playing games!

  • For dinner I’ll be having chicken and green beans, for dinner I’ll be having chicken and green beans, for dinner I’ll be having, dinner I’ll be having, dinner I’ll be having chicken and green beans!

Add a little bit of music to your day by creating your very own playlist to encourage a good mood for the day. This playlist can be implemented while you are in the car, doing chores, or less preferred activities. If you’ve joined us at the Musical Bridges Clinic you have heard our favorite playlist that we use to encourage a comfortable, soothing, and productive environment. The background music to your life during spring break can make such a huge difference!
