Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Since October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month I thought I’d share a handful of the many articles written on how music therapy can be beneficial and life saving in breast cancer treatment.  This is a small sampling.  Check out more at American Music Therapy Association.

Susan G. Komen discussing what music therapy is and how it is used in treatment for breast cancer patients.

BreastCancer.Org explaining what to expect in a music therapy session and giving some extremely valuable research statistics.

Cancer Treatment Centers of America stating that music therapy can release negative emotions and reduce stress and anxiety.

Absenger Cancer Education Foundation claiming music therapy addresses the physical, psychological, social, and spiritual needs of breast cancer patients.

Oncology Nursing Society further reports that music therapy can help caregiver strain and burden.

You can also check out my post last October where I shared a video from ABC in New York discussing and educating the public about music therapy on a segment of a special program “Breast Cancer: Promising Research and Options.”
