Welcome, Mrs.Sofia!

Please join us in welcoming Mrs.Sofia to the Musical Bridges team! Sofia recently relocated to Nashville from Indianapolis, Indiana, where she completed her Music Therapy degree. She is excited to bring her experience, dedication, and passion for music therapy to a new city and community.

Sofia grew up between Costa Rica and Spain, before moving to Indiana to pursue higher education in music. She first discovered music therapy in college through a friend, and it felt like kismet. The field blended all her passions, inspiring her to fully pursue this beautiful career path.

Music has always been at the heart of Sofia’s life. She began to study voice and piano at just five years old, and with the encouragement from her family, her love for singing led to incredible opportunities like the Costa Rica Philharmonic Orchestra, appearing on TV, and having the opportunity to sing the US national anthem on many sporting events.

She is a hard worker, balancing multiple roles throughout college, including resident assistant, house manager for the theatre and music department, department secretary, and summer counselor, among others.

During her internship and practicum experiences, she had the opportunity to work with a diverse group of clients with a wide range of abilities, an experience she found deeply rewarding. She gained hands-on experience in an adult day center, the adult medical wing of a hospital, and through the Medicaid waiver program, supporting individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

She is deeply connected to advocacy, having participated in Hill Day in Indiana, volunteering for the special olympics and supporting various music therapy camps.

Outside of work, Sofia loves to spend time with her husband, family, and friends. She loves all things coffee and loves exploring all that Music City has to offer!
