Welcome, Ms. Proctor!
Please join us in welcoming Ms. Proctor to the Musical Bridges family! Proctor has been a music therapist for two-and-a-half years, and has loved every minute of it. She has relocated to Nashville from Missouri, where she was raised. She is so excited to get to start her journey in Nashville!
Proctor grew up in Seneca, Missouri, surrounded by a musical family. She spent her weekends alternating between going to bluegrass shows and her dad’s Barbershop performances, and was highly involved in both band and choir all throughout middle and high school. When she was in the eighth grade, her aunt, who is a special educator, told her about music therapy and how it seemed like the perfect fit for Proctor’s future. Her aunt was correct, and over a decade later, she is living out that dream!

Proctor obtained her degree in music therapy from The University of Kansas and remains a proud Jayhawk—Rock Chalk! While in school, she served in several practicum settings across the lifespan and a plethora of diagnoses. She then completed her internship at Banner-University Medical Center Phoenix in Phoenix, Arizona at the height of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Proctor then worked as a music therapist in Springfield and Joplin, Missouri for just over two years, working with individuals with disabilities, older adults, hospice care, and in various mental health settings. These eclectic experiences have contributed to making Proctor an adaptable therapist who is able to tailor sessions in-the-moment to unexpected needs.

Outside of the therapy space, Proctor is always reading 2-3 books at once, and is a staple at the local library. She also enjoys sewing and embroidery, usually while listening to an audiobook or podcast. Proctor loves all things history and community, and tries her best to be an active member of society by attending community events and fairs, and learning the history of the cities and buildings she is surrounded by. She is having the most wonderful time attending events and learning the history of Music City!
Proctor is so happy to be with Musical Bridges to continue her journey as a music therapist. She is excited to become a Neurologic Music Therapist, and is already having a wonderful time gleaning knowledge from the rest of the staff. Most importantly, she is having a blast with all of her new clients! Ms. Proctor can’t wait to continue working with and learning from everyone!
